The VMAs are Brits!

RollingStone.com: Congratulations, Britney! You're up for seven VMAs this year! It's a moment of sweet redemption for Britz, because it means she will return once again to the stage where she's tasted her sugariest highs and her most Xanax-tical lows. Let's face it, Britney is the VMAs. She's the reason we watch every year - it's how we take the temperature of the Britney universe. She was made for this show, and it was made for her.

Once more, Lady B shall take the stage where she suffered the indignity of the 2007 VMAs, where she mumbled, bumbled, and stumbled through a rendition of "Gimme More" that traumatized her fans, bumping into her scared-looking back-up dancers, rocking her spray-painted abs and one of Bret Michaels' used hairpieces. As people used to say way back in 2007, it was a "fail," as well as a "hot tranny mess."

Britz made her return to the VMAs last year, showing she could make the scene as a wholesome, soft-spoken Southern gal, but with all these nominations, she has a chance for an even bigger comeback - not to mention an even bigger celebration of her place as the pop queen of the decade. Nobody should be surprised if she sweeps all seven of her categories, just because "Womanizer" is a seven-times-awesome kind of song, although given that it's up against heavy hitters like "Single Ladies," "Poker Face" and "Love Lockdown," she might want to rehearse her "it's an honor just to be nominated, y'all" cliche just in case. (Bizarrely, she's not nominated for Best Female Video, maybe because she’s too much of a woman-woman-womanizer?)

Given that Eminem got a bunch of nominations as well, maybe MTV is just having spasms of 1999 nostalgia. But this a moment for all her fans to savor, wonder why the new category for "Best [Old] Video That Should Have Been A Moonman" doesn't have a nod for her "Lucky" video, from 2000. That's a classic. It was her Kid A.

"Womanizer" best selling Britney song in US

Forget what you think you know about Britney's biggest selling singles like "Slave 4 U" and "Gimme More."

"Womanizer" has just become Britney's best-selling-single in the U.S. having sold more than "Baby One More Time" (1 million) and "Toxic" (500 thousand), according to NYpost.com!

10 months after "Womanizer" debuted it is still charting and currently at #279 on iTunes while ‘Circus’ charts at #121.

Britney has more US Top 40 radio hits this decade than ANYONE else!

According to Billboard.com

Billboard just confirmed, “Radar” will be her 21st entry + they gave an update on her album sales in the U.S.

Should Britney Spears’ “Radar” debut on the Mainstream Top 40 radio airplay chart next week *it’s #37 on MB*, which looks likely based on the format’s building chart, Spears will take sole ownership of most entries on the tally this decade. She’s currently tied with Nelly, each with 20 charted titles in that span. Here is a look at the hefty sales figures of Spears’ charted albums on the Billboard 200, according to Nielsen SoundScan:

10,534,000, “…Baby One More Time,” 1999 (No. 1, six weeks)
9,184,000, “Oops!…I Did It Again,” 2000 (No. 1, one week)
4,336,000, “Britney,” 2001 (No. 1, one week)
2,970,000, “In the Zone,” 2003 (No. 1, one week)
1,575,000, “Circus,” 2008 (No. 1, one week)
1,347,000, “Greatest Hits: My Prerogative,” 2004 (No. 4)
967,000, “Blackout,” 2007 (No. 2)
100,000, “B in the Mix: The Remixes,” 2005 (No. 134)

Grammy Nomination for Brit?

Examiner.com: Submissions for the 2010 Grammy Awards won’t take place until September of 2009, but we are told that Jive Records will push for the final nail in Britney’s comeback: several Grammy nominations. Her album, Circus, was released in November of 2008 and has been one of the biggest selling albums of the past year. All her singles, “Womanizer,” “Circus,” and “If U Seek Amy,” have been major hits as well.

Some may laugh at the prospect of Britney Spears winning several Grammies. However, Grammy voters not only love comebacks, but have also been more keen to dance music lately. The only categories that Britney doesn’t have a chance in are Best Female Pop Vocal Performance (for obvious reasons) and Song of the Year. She is definitely ripe for an Album of the Year nomination as well as one for Record of the Year. She’s also ripe for Best Pop Album.

One year ago, everybody was saying that Britney Spears was over with. Now, Britney is filling up arenas at top ticket prices during one of the worst recessions ever. One has to not only credit Ms. Spears for curbing her destructive behavior, but her management, father, and Jive Records deserve thumbs up as well.
